When work is war...practice guerrilla self care

Sound drastic? It is, but here is why.

Whether you know it or not, you have been a part of an organization at war at some point in your life. It may be your job, family, spiritual community...any of these can undergo serious conflict or strife which can sometimes feel like war. Even if it doesn't look like war, it can energetically take a toll on your body. What does this feel like to you? When I am at war, I feel exhausted...often too speedy which results in subtle anxiety, irritation and insomnia. In this state, I cannot be of benefit to anyone.

The term "guerrilla warfare"  is defined as irregular warfare.  I created the term "guerrilla self care" to describe a practice that is outside of the norm.

Recently, I realized that my basic self care practices aren't working based on the current level of stress in my life. I meditate, exercise and eat healthy (all daily!) however this is currently not feeling like enough.

In the spirit of experimenting, I have set out on an act of guerrilla self care for the next ten days to try to soothe and settle my body.  It is a bit of a detox, for lack of a better word.  For ten days, I am removing processed sugar and grains, minimizing alcohol and creating new nighttime rituals which include daily epsom salt bath, no social media after 5pm and making a tea elixir before bed.

I don't have the answer to what guerrilla self care looks like to you, but I encourage you to experiment with what is out of the norm for you that could yield amazing results. I would to hear what is working for you.

In closing, here is the recipe for my favorite nighttime drink.

Anti-inflammatory tea elixir
1 bag Numi Amber Sun Turmeric tea
1 packet Four Sigmatic Reishi
1 Tbsp collagen
1 Tbsp vanilla flavored MCT oil

Boil water and mix together all ingredients to steep for 5 minutes, except the MCT oil.
After five minutes, compost tea bag and place all ingredients, including the MCT oil, in a blender and mix until frothy!
